I think the future of non Office is in doubt so there may not be a future version. One big advantage of SA is home use rights but that's discontinued in favor of a discounted O subscription. Don't know if that's worth anything to you.

Why do you want to install on there when you can just install on their computer as Office allows up to 5 devices per user? Why would you still install on a RDS?
Lots of reasons in general, but in our case mainly because our software financial sector needs that. Users need office installed on the same computer as the software. I find the general forced push towards the cloud a very idiotic thing. To be fair, that's not a valid comparison. O includes a heck of a lot more than just Office If you don't need that extra stuff, fine, but a straight dollar comparison to Office is not even close to fair.
That's like saying it's outrageous for a Mercedes to cost more than a Yugo. They are both cars, sure, but one has a lot more in it than the other. You say O offers heck a lot more, yet it costs almost one third of the Office ?
One thing though is true, Open Value you buy a permanent license. With Office , you don't. Something isn't right. O has many different subscription products so it helps to avoid confusion to mention which specific one with talking about it.
